Sr. Quality Assistance emphasizes educating, inspiring, empowering, and facilitating a mindset that places the responsibility of quality on the whole team during the full development process.

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test will:

Provide, among other things, various types of testing education services and technical leadership with testing frameworks and methodologies to assist the product group they work primarily with
Be collaborative and influential across our Agiles team(s), working closely with Developers to automate testing where possible, contributing to our Continuous Deployment pipeline
Thought leader in identifying areas within product(s) requiring further or varied testing and helps design and set these manual and automated tests up, as well as participates in administering them
Responsible for setting QA direction for assigned product(s); regularly identifies and architects new tools, infrastructure, and testing approaches to make product quality and the team better; identifies ways that end-users will work with the software and help create the best experience possible for the intended users by identifying areas needing continued adjustment
Subject matter expert in QA processes and techniques. Constantly learning and trying new things; makes recommendations, and coaches software development team on best practices and uses of methodology and tools. Understands standards from organizations like ISTQB, ASTQB, etc, and explores advances in testing technologies in areas such as cloud, containers, and machine learning

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for architecting, design, and implementation of new tools as well as continued maintenance of the tools for the product group
Identify solutions for functional testing, performance testing, code coverage for tests, security testing for product(s); understanding how it can and should be applied to a given product(s)
Provides recommendations for implementing industry best practices within software development and testing
Architect and deliver custom solutions for testing multithreaded and multi-process scenarios
Architect test framework solutions using multiple programming languages such as C/C++, C#, JAVA, Python, Javascript etc. on multiple platforms : mobile, Windows and Linux
Research new test tools and be able to demonstrate using POCs( Proof of Concept )
Plan, develop, execute, and maintain automated unit, functional test cases; develop modular, robust, and maintainable automation scripts in an Agile-Scrum environment
Actively participate in debugging and altering code, as needed
Build agents and configurations for CI tools such as Jenkins and TeamCity
Influence all team members of the scrum team on quality aspects and take ownership for the product test scope
Teach team members new/better/different testing approaches
Sets up environments/servers for testing needs
Propose/write/define appropriate test plans that are relevant to the feature(s) being tested
Active participant and QA expert in grooming/planning sessions (i.e. provides opinions/thoughts)
Analyze work from multiple perspectives when writing clear and concise acceptance criteria/descriptions and other QA Testing Plans for multiple teams/people, at a given time
Contributes to conversations, identifies opportunities, is concise, fosters understanding, and advocates for end-user
Puts the quality of the product above finding defects
Manually test web and desktop applications
Thoroughly and accurately document identified bugs, defects, and regressions in a timely manner
Thoroughly and accurately recording and verifying all test results
Assess risk and perform bug scoring
Works independently and successfully in unsupervised work environments and is capable of making sound business decisions consistently, without supervisors’ guidance.

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Programming skills in 2 or more languages : C, C++, C# , JAVA, Python, Javascript
Platforms : Windows and/or Linux
Experience with one or more behavior- or test-driven (BDD or TDD) automated testing frameworks and tools
Constantly learning and trying new things (cutting edge, exploring what could/should change & how)
Ability to balance many different product/project/team priorities
Strong key, essential leadership skills (serving others, courage to question/train/motivate/move, and mentor)
Rapidly learns and understands deeper intricacies of products
Understands more complex testing concepts, has the ability to explain them well, and fosters buy-in and builds consensus around these testing concepts
Ability to work with multiple teams/people at a time
Experienced Automation Tester
Experience with performance &/or security testing and how it can/should be applied to a given product (one or both)
Able to analyze work from multiple perspectives
Understands unit tests and unit-testing best practices; able to design and write unit tests (paired with developer)
Ability to understand and execute a wide variety of software testing methodologies to best fulfill all of the testing needs for the work given
Ability to make sound decisions quickly, with and without all the information available
Ability to read, understand, and write code
Detail-oriented
Learns and demonstrates familiarity and knowledge of products
Desire and ability to take a concept/task and independently create and execute on it
Driven and motivated to explore all options in order to learn and help the team

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; five plus years of real industry experience in software development and software quality assurance; experience as a technical or project lead in software development and/or software quality assurance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
